Tom picked up the mandolin soon after he began playing the violin. Realizing the similarity between the two in terms of tuning, he began to transfer all of the material that he was working through on the violin ​to the mandolin. Tom has had the opportunity to work with mandolinists such as Barry Mitterhoff, Radim Zenkl, Don Stiernberg, Mike Marshall, and Joe Walsh.

Tom enjoys teaching at every level and in every style, and is passionate about helping his students grow. Lessons are offered in Classical Mandolin, Gypsy Jazz, Swing, Blues, Bluegrass, and all styles of traditional music including Old Time, Celtic, Quebecois, Cajun, and anything you'd hear at a dance.
